BREAKING: Two Pedestrians Run Over During Fantasy Fest on Duval Street
Witnesses say the driver accelerated over victims at Duval and Angela after police warnings to slow down; crowd members rushed the vehicle as ambulance crews arrived within minutes.
Two people on a scooter were struck and run over by a vehicle Friday night at the intersection of Duval and Angela streets during the height of Fantasy Fest — billed as the world’s largest adult homecoming party — according to multiple witnesses at the scene.
The crash happened amid dense foot traffic near the north end of Duval Street, where one law-enforcement officer had been yelling at several drivers to slow down or stop in the moments before impact, witnesses told Above the Fold.
Several bystanders said the driver initially appeared to stop, then — instead of backing up — accelerated forward, driving over the victims as the crowd screamed. Members of the crowd rushed the vehicle, pounding on its doors and shouting for the driver to stop before police regained control of the scene.
Witnesses described the reaction time of several off-duty law enforcement officers nearby as “slow,” saying they appeared momentarily confused as the situation unfolded. However, ambulance crews arrived almost immediately, pushing through the crowd to reach the victims within minutes of the crash.
The intersection was quickly closed as emergency responders provided treatment. There was no immediate word on the victims’ conditions, and authorities have not released the driver’s identity or said whether any arrests were made.
Fantasy Fest — often described as part Mardi Gras, part carnival, and part Key West fever dream — draws thousands of costumed revelers to Old Town each October. Police redirected traffic and pedestrians from the area late Monday night as the investigation continued.
This is a developing story. Above the Fold will update as more information becomes available.

Are the victims ok? Do we know who they are now? Or the name of the driver?
The police actually responded surprisingly fast. I was there and within minutes had multiple units present.
