BREAKING: ‘De-Flocking’ Florida? DeSantis Orders Removal of Controversial Cameras on State Highways

State order could derail Cow Key camera plans; Florida’s move against Flock cameras on state roads raises new questions about local surveillance projects and AI.

From my colleagues at WPLG-10 in Miami.

Although the City of Key West does not currently use Flock Safety technology, the state’s order could derail plans to install license plate-reading cameras at both ends of the Cow Key Channel Bridge.

It remains unclear whether the restrictions will extend beyond state-controlled roads or how the order could affect Florida counties as state officials continue to limit local control.
