KEY WEST, Fla. — U.S. Border Patrol agents took at least eight people into custody Saturday during a series of enforcement actions in Key West, including a forceful detention outside Tavern N Town that was recorded on video.

The video appears to show several agents surrounding and taking a person to the ground near the restaurant. Above the Fold is seeking additional footage and information about what occurred before the recording began.

It was not immediately clear whether the person was injured or why agents used force. The individual’s identity, immigration status and reason for detention have not been released.

At least seven other people were taken into federal custody elsewhere in Key West during the day, according to information provided to Above the Fold. Officials had not confirmed whether the detentions were connected or part of a coordinated operation.

Above the Fold has requested information from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, including the identities of those detained, the legal basis for the detentions and whether any criminal charges were filed.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
