Many many of the countries most famous and successful musicians have come to Key West so they can use Jimmy's studio. Even Bob Dylan spent time here during Covid when he recorded his song, "Key West". It wasn't unusual to run into Clarence Clemmons next door at the Schooner. Kenny Chesney, Zach Brown ,and many many others have travelled to KW just to use the special combination of sound equipment, acoustics, and Karma that only exist at Shrimpboat Sound! These performers can use any facility in the world and they choose this one. Jimmy sold over 20 million albums world wide. He is a true cultural icon. Please keep alive every part of this happy and fun phenomena. Please do not allow it to ever be changed! Donna Windle

It sucks the big one again… Spotswoods… How much is too much? Who is on the bight board?

Thanks for your scrutiny and discernment!

I first went to Key West in 1986. So much has changed in 40 years. KW doesn’t need another bar. It needs to keep Shrimp Boat Sound, keep part of its history, culture and heritage. I rarely recognize KW when I visit now. Long gone is the quaint and quirky, artsy town. Now, it’s just another beach town. Enough is enough.

All this BS with the Spottswoods and their ilk when they sold their souls in the 80s over the Key West of the past. This is the inevitable next step. Did you THINK it would end with Shorty’s becoming a t-shirt shop and the Strand becoming a Walgreens?!

You reap what you sow.

Up here in Boston - really rooting for the underdog on this one. I hope every abutting property owner shows up and sounds off to keep this iconic piece of music and Buffett history alive! Fins up!

Great read. Is there a petition for people to sign to save the studio? KW doesn’t need another bar, it needs to preserve this studio. Open it back up, or part museum, something. I’ll sign a petition and share it everywhere, if you can point me in the right direction . Thanks for a good read.

Rocking the truth, Ted! Glad I subscribed and canceled my Citizen. Brilliantly written as well. I must ask: Are you the one that wrote in the crime report describing the Conch tour train as an "elongated tourist laden vehicle"? 😀

And thank you for the kind words and support. Subscribers like yourself allow me to keep doing what I am doing and am very appreciative of the support!

Thanks as always Ted, for keeping KW appraised of the news we need to know. What is happening on November 12? City Hall meeting?

Bight board meeting.
