KEY WEST, Fla. — Photographer Chris Lauber will open an exhibit of vintage Jimmy Buffett concert photographs this evening at the Pier House Resort & Spa.
The free reception runs from 4:15 to 5 p.m. in the lobby outside the iconic Chart Room Bar. The exhibit will remain on display throughout the Just a Few Friends festival weekend.
Lauber will offer attendees copies of his new 28-page booklet, Thank You Jimmy Buffett, which recounts two weeks in 1978 that he says changed the direction of his life.
Then a 20-year-old Boston College sophomore, Lauber photographed Buffett from the front row before embarking on a five-day hitchhiking journey to see three more concerts. Several images from that adventure will be displayed at the Pier House, and about 20 of Lauber’s photographs appear in the documentary Occupational Hazard: The First Coral Reefers.

KEY WEST, Fla. — A new documentary chronicling the musicians who helped Jimmy Buffett develop his signature sound will begin its theatrical run Saturday in the island city where much of that sound was born.
The limited-edition booklet serves as a preview of Lauber’s completed memoir, which is targeted for release in the spring.
