The Truth Must Go On: The Floggings Will Continue Until the Morale Improves
You don’t have to like me — but in this town, the facts won’t stop, and real journalism doesn’t bow to anyone.

You don’t have to like me — hell, most days I’m not sure I like me — but in this town, the facts don’t stop just because somebody’s ego catches a sunburn.
And when it comes to real journalism, the truth must go on, with or without applause.
Look, I get it.
Maybe you don’t like me.
Maybe you don’t like what I think.
Maybe you don’t like being reminded that Key West is not, in fact, a Technicolor cartoon island where corruption melts in the sun, incompetence evaporates with the dew, and everything gets fixed if we all just “stay positive.”
But your personal discomfort is not a controlling legal authority — not here, not anywhere, not even in the wild hallucinatory realm we call the Conch Republic.
John Adams — a man who survived revolution, feuds, tyranny, and the world’s first documented political trolls — said it best:
“Facts are stubborn things.”
And in Key West, they’re downright feral.
They show up at meetings where lawyers mysteriously vanish.
They lurk in agendas nobody reads until it’s too late.
They jump out of grand jury reports like gremlins with subpoenas and a grudge.
Someone has to report those facts — in plain English, without fear, favor, flattery, or the usual island sugar glaze that’s been blinding people around here for decades.
That someone is Above the Fold.
I’m not here to coddle.
I’m not here to kiss rings.
I’m here to drag the truth into the daylight — sunburned, hungover, staggering, and blinking — even when it pisses people off.
Especially when it pisses people off.
To inform, educate and infuriate.
If you care about real journalism in the Southernmost City…
If you want watchdogs instead of lapdogs…
If you’d like your news delivered without a side of political Kool-Aid…
Or at least on time.
If you understand that facts — those stubborn, inconvenient, democracy-saving bastards — are the only thing standing between us and municipal madness…

Because John Adams was right.
Truth matters.
Even when it is wildly, brutally, cosmically inconvenient.
Because someone has to keep Key West from hallucinating itself off a moral cliff.
And because, like it or not, the facts aren’t going anywhere —
and neither am I.
Welcome to my world.

Keep on doing what you’re doing! It’s very refreshing to have the news delivered that is the news!
These days with AI (including Google explanations when you ask a question) and Facebook posts that come that are reposted before checking, that spread false information (from some person that has no verifiable documentation and no business posting the information), it’s refreshing to have factual no nonsense news. Thank you.
And before anyone should post something, verify with at least two reputable sources, not some Joe that decided to post something.
It’s interesting that when someone like Borowitz posts, it’s most of the time satire and some people don’t understand it and post it as the truth. More false information.
