Marathon Schedules Series of Public Hearings on Group Home Ordinance, Affordable Housing Project
The City of Marathon Planning Commission and Council will consider updates to zoning rules for group homes and a development agreement for four affordable single-family units at upcoming hearings.
The City of Marathon has scheduled multiple public hearings over the next several months on proposed changes to its development regulations and a new affordable housing project.
The Planning Commission will hold a hearing Nov. 17 on a proposed ordinance amending several sections of the city’s land development code to establish a new “Requests for Accommodations” process, update group home regulations, and revise related definitions. The City Council will then take up the measure on Dec. 9, with a final hearing set for Jan. 13, 2026.
Council members will also consider a separate request for a development agreement from QOF Inc., which plans to build four single-family affordable homes near 701 91st Street, in the Sea Crest Heights subdivision (near Mile Marker 52). The development item will be heard Nov. 18, with a final public hearing scheduled for Dec. 9.
Copies of both applications are available for public review at Marathon City Hall, 9805 Overseas Highway, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents are encouraged to attend and provide comment.
