League of Women Voters to Host Key West Candidate Forum Thursday
Henriquez to miss event because of prior scheduling conflict; City Commission candidates in three districts confirmed to participate.
KEY WEST, Fla. , The Lower Keys League of Women Voters will host a candidate forum for Key West municipal races at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at the Harvey Government Center, 1200 Truman Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Confirmed participants include mayoral candidate Sam Kaufman. Incumbent Mayor Danise “DeeDee” Henriquez will not attend because of a previously scheduled conflict, organizers said.
Candidates confirmed for the City Commission races include Bobi Lore and Mark Rossi in District 2; Sarah Compton, Wayne Garcia and Juan Llera in District 4; and Chris Massicotte and Gregory Sullivan in District 5.
The forum will be broadcast live on Monroe County Television via Comcast Channel 76, AT&T U-Verse Channel 99 and Roku.
Members of the media are asked to arrive by 5:30 p.m. and check in at the Lower Keys League of Women Voters table. Designated press positions will be assigned to avoid obstructing audience sight lines.
At least one month, maybe two months warning and no elaboration of what previous conflict was for the mayor. I have my doubts.
