Keys Gator Club Sets Social Event to Mentor New Students Planning to Attend UF

Event set for Tuesday, Aug. 4 at the Nest in Islamorada.

ISLAMORADA, Fla. — The Florida Keys Gator Club is planning a Gator Club Gathering to help Keys students who are preparing to attend the University of Florida for their fall semester.

The event, organized by the University of Florida Alumni Association’s Keys-based affiliate organization, is set for 6–7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, at The Nest, mile marker 81 in Islamorada.

“We’re inviting new students, current UF students, alumni and their families to come together to make connections, share experiences and welcome the next generation of Gators into the UF family,” said Shirley Wilson, Keys Gator Club president. “We also encourage local high school students and their parents to attend.

“It’s a great opportunity for prospective Gators to meet recently accepted students, hear about their application experiences, ask questions about college life at UF and learn what it means to be a Gator,” Wilson said.

The Florida Keys Gator Club is to provide complimentary appetizers and soft drinks. The Nest is offering 10% off all food and beverages from its regular menu.

In addition to Wilson, other Gator Club officers for 2026-27 include President-Elect Larry Dalton, Treasurer Glenn Latham, Secretary Susan Latham and board members Susan Latham, Andy Newman and Paul Turick.
