KEY WEST, Fla. — Mayor Sam Kaufman will begin holding weekly news conferences at City Hall, creating a regular forum for the press — and eventually the public — to question the city’s newly elected leader.
The first news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the mayor’s conference room at City Hall, 1300 White St. The inaugural event was moved to Wednesday because Kaufman was out of town Tuesday.
The first session will be open only to members of the press. According to Kaufman, future news conferences will be open to the public, with residents able to submit questions for the mayor to answer as part of an effort to increase transparency at City Hall.
Subsequent news conferences are scheduled for 10 a.m. each Tuesday.
