Halloran Strikes Back
After years of frustration and being targeted by the Bubba Bozo Trio, City Planner Katie Halloran breaks the silence.
Although many in the community had hoped that the scathing Grand Jury report released earlier this year would shed light on dirty dealings in City Hall, it seems that the only thing that happened was that the cockroaches scattered.
Longtime City Planner Katie Halloran took leave under FMLA earlier this summer to be able to care for her father, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s.
The result? The onslaught against the Planning Department in general, and its director, specifically, continued in earnest.
The sad state of affairs here is that if it weren’t for fired City Manager Al Childress initiating an impartial, third-party review of the Planning, Building, and Code departments at City Hall, all of this would have been buried.
And they are still trying their best.
Now, it is festering like a blister in the sun, and it needs to be lanced.
The Corradino Report led to multiple indictments and disgrace for City Attorney Ron Ramsingh, his brother, the Chief Building Officer Raj, and longtime Code Enforcement bully Jim Young.
And yet, it seems like nothing has changed.
The city lost Childress to an orchestrated lynching involving the Bubba Bozo Trio and the either calculating or clueless City Commissioner Lissette Carey.
I guess it depends on your point of view, which category she falls into.
High turnover has always been a problem at 1300 White St., but the toxic work environment fostered by the Ramsingh brothers and Young has been allowed to continue under recently hired City Manager Brian Barroso and Mayor Danise Henriquez.
It is no secret to anybody with a pulse that Conch power players — attorneys, developers, and real estate agents — coordinated an effort in the community to “take back” city hall.
They couldn’t believe that they had a City Manager who was concerned with doing the right thing, no matter whose feet he stepped on.
They also didn’t like long-time politico Teri Johnston.
So, they hatched a plan with their inside plants to launch a coup.
The problem is that the people involved at City Hall are so incompetent that all they could do was repeatedly shoot themselves in the big toe.
As a result of an HR complaint by Halloran against Barroso, we may finally see some change. But as you can tell from the tenor of her letter to the community, it seems like the more things change, the more they stay the same.
At the very least, Commissioner Carey should resign. If not, she certainly faces more recall attempts from voters in her district.
It is a sad state of affairs at City Hall.
Despite her pending HR complaint against Barroso (one of multiple complaints according to sources inside City Hall,) Halloran felt the need to address the community and make them aware of the situation.
Here it is in her words:
