A construction company dug up an old mortar near Thai Island. Evacuation of a 1000-foot radius around the device was necessary and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was notified and is responding to remove it according to a post on the Key West Police Department Facebook page.
Motorist should use an alternate route.
