BREAKING: Grand Jury Indicts Cudjoe Key Man on First-Degree Murder Charge in Wife’s Death
New indictment alleges Bradly Shawn Shadduck killed Lynne Shadduck with premeditation, upgrading the case from second-degree murder.
A Monroe County grand jury has indicted a Cudjoe Key man on a charge of first-degree murder, escalating the case against him in the death of his wife from second-degree murder to a capital felony.
State Attorney Dennis W. Ward announced Monday that a grand jury returned an indictment charging Bradly Shawn Shadduck with first-degree murder in the May 28 death of Lynne Shadduck.
According to the indictment, Shadduck “did unlawfully, from a premeditated design to effect the death of Lynne Shadduck, a human being, kill and murder Lynne Shadduck… by severely beating her on and about her head, neck, torso,” causing fatal blunt-force injuries.
The indictment stems from a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the fatal assault at the couple’s home on Cudjoe Key.
The new indictment supersedes the second-degree murder charge that had previously been filed following Shadduck’s arrest.
Following the grand jury’s action, Monroe County Judge Mark Wilson signed a capias charging Shadduck with first-degree murder and ordered that he remain held without bond at the Monroe County Detention Center pending further court proceedings.
Investigators have alleged that deputies responded to the residence on the morning of May 28 after receiving a report of a disturbance. Authorities previously reported finding Lynne Shadduck suffering from extensive blunt-force injuries. She was later pronounced dead.
Shadduck is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
The case will be prosecuted by Major Crimes Assistant State Attorney Colleen M. Dunne.
