Beat the Heat: Summer Splash Turns Truman Waterfront Farmers Market into a Family Water park
Bounce houses, a waterslide, splash pad and dozens of local vendors will transform the Truman Waterfront Farmers Market into a summertime destination July 16, offering families a chance to cool off.
KEY WEST, Fla. — There are plenty of ways to beat the heat in Key West, but few combine water slides, local shopping and waterfront views quite like the Truman Waterfront Farmers Market’s upcoming Summer Splash.
The themed event returns Thursday, July 16, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Truman Waterfront Park, adding a full slate of family-friendly attractions to the market’s weekly lineup of local farmers, artisans and food vendors.
Children can cool off on a waterslide, bounce through inflatable attractions, play games and participate in giveaways while parents browse booths featuring fresh produce, locally caught seafood, baked goods, prepared foods, handcrafted jewelry, artwork, apparel, plants and other products from Keys businesses.
The event also makes full use of Truman Waterfront Park’s permanent family amenities, including its free splash pad, expansive playground, jungle gym and shaded picnic areas, allowing visitors to spend an afternoon enjoying one of Key West’s premier waterfront parks.
Market organizers say Summer Splash is designed to give families another reason to visit the weekly market during the slower summer months while introducing visitors to the wide variety of local vendors who participate each Thursday.
Admission is free, and families are encouraged to bring towels, sunscreen and a change of clothes for children planning to enjoy the water attractions.
Summer Splash is part of the Truman Waterfront Farmers Market’s ongoing series of themed events that spotlight local businesses while creating unique experiences for residents and visitors alike.
The Truman Waterfront Farmers Market is open every Thursday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Truman Waterfront Park. The market is family- and pet-friendly and is accessible by foot, bicycle or car. Nearby parking includes up to four hours of free parking for vehicles displaying a residential parking permit.
