Above the Fold’s Ted Lund Recognized Among Top State Political Reporters
National roundup highlights local watchdog coverage from Key West to the broader Florida Keys.
Above the Fold’s Ted Lund has been named among Florida’s top political reporters in a revised Monday roundup by political commentator and former Washington Post columnist Chris Cillizza, who highlighted standout state-based journalists across the country.
The list of Florida reporters includes Cody Butler of WCTV, Gary Fineout of Politico, Kimberly Leonard of Politico, Jeffrey Schweers of The Orlando Sentinel and Peter Schorsch of Florida Politics.
The roundup spotlights journalists providing on-the-ground reporting on government, elections and policy across their respective regions.
The recognition reflects Above the Fold’s wide-ranging coverage from Key West and the Florida Keys, including City Commission meetings and local policy debates, one-on-one interviews with political figures, community protests over immigration enforcement crackdowns and reporting on mounting pressure facing the LGBTQ+ community locally and across Florida. The publication also tracks countywide issues spanning government, education and environmental policy throughout Monroe County.
This recognition underscores the role paid subscribers play in sustaining independent local reporting, even as most of the publication’s daily coverage remains free to readers.
“I wouldn’t be able to do this work without paid subscribers,” Lund said. “Everything but the archives is available gratis, but subscriber support is what allows the reporting to continue day in and day out.”
Independent, local reporting depends on readers who value sustained coverage of the issues shaping their community. Subscriptions to Above the Fold support continued watchdog reporting on city and county government, schools, the environment and the civic debates unfolding across Key West and the Florida Keys.
Readers who want to keep a local lens on public decisions and public officials can support that work by becoming paid subscribers and helping ensure the reporting remains focused on the community it serves.
